The 1st Unhas International Conference on Agricultural Technology
“Strengthening Agricultural Technology through Innovative Research”
The 1st Unhas International Conference on Agricultural Technology
As one of the important sectors, agriculture has to adapt with the challenge in providing food for the increased population in the world. The challenge even become harder with the occurrence of climate change, the spread and severity of pest and disease, and the conversion of agricultural land for other purposes. The application of agricultural technology is one of the measures to overcome this challenge. Agricultural technology applications include, but not limited to, the use of food knowledge in the process of food selection, processing, preservation, packaging, and distribution to ensure nutrious adequacy, food sufficiency, and food safety, the use of agricultural machinery, irrigation technology, and other instruments in crop cultivation, the application of smart farming, and the use of renewable energy. It is expected that these applications will ensure food security, increase agriculture production, reduce yield losses, ensure the availability of safety and nutritious food, eradicate pest and disease with appropriate control measures, develop appropriate technology to mitigate and adapt the climate change effect, and develop infrastructure in agriculture.
Agricultural technology is developed and studied in the fields of agricultural and bio-system engineering study and food science and technology study. A lot of research have been conducted in these fields, and need to be disseminated through some platforms, including publications and conferences. As one of the stakeholder in these field, Agricultural Technology Department of Universitas Hasanuddin organizes an international conference with the theme of “Strengthening of Agricultural Technology through Innovative Research”. This conference is supported by professional associations of Perhimpunan Teknik Pertanian (Perteta) Indonesia and Perhimpunan Ahli Teknologi Pangan Indonesia (PATPI). The aim of this conference is to provide a platform for academicians, researchers, practitioners, and public in disseminating their studies and exchanging information. Besides that, this conference will provide an opportunity to develop networking between research institutions, university, government, and industry in local and/or international levels.
